Travel life

Im so jealous!

I wish I could do what you do!

I don’t have the money to.

What’s next?

Lucky.

Just a few of the things I hear.

Travelling, it’s not hard, it’s also not easy.

To all the people that say they wish they could do it, you can. If you want something bad enough, you will do it. If you’re scared of the unknown, sacrificing stability or you actually just don’t want to fully leave the life you have, theres nothing wrong with that. In that case though, don’t say you wish you could do what I and so many others do. How about, I love the way you live your life! I much prefer to go on holiday and come home though.

Money. Money is always a big factor, for obvious reasons, but I can guarantee that most people I hear this from have more than me. I’m broke and ok with it. Money comes and goes. I will always find a job, whatever job that may be, who knows. And in between, sometimes I have to go home. Again, that’s ok (I know I have the support of my family, some aren’t as lucky). Travelling doesn’t have to be expensive, you can volunteer and stay places for free and even get food included. You can work in certain other countries… It just depends on the effort you make.

Whats next? That’s the beauty of travel. Who the fuck knows. Make a vague plan and go with the flow.

I flew to Sydney with a one way ticket, no where to live, no job, and was settled within a week on a beautiful island. Life is unpredictable.

Lucky. I know I have the privilege to live life the way I do and many others don’t. But without getting into politics and going deep into conversation about a whole other topic… it’s not that I’m lucky, it’s that I choose to do it. I GET to live on an island in Australia because I choose to, I GET to have sunset beers on the beach, because I choose to, I GET to go hike a volcano in Japan, because I choose to, I GET to ride a motorbike in Vietnam for 4 days, because I choose to… the list is endless. But it’s not luck, it’s hard work and decisions I make in life that others wouldn’t.

I’ve been to many places so far, and I can whole heartedly say I have experienced true happiness, not just contentment. Nothing will ever compare to that feeling you get from getting out of your comfort zone and exploring the world.
